Classic Ann Landers.

Today,Professor gave our works "Healthy Diet" back to us 

and let us about Biography of Ann Landers.

After,professor opened the Cambridge dictionary

about pronunciation and meaning of its.

I read and try to do it by myself and checked the answer 

with my friends after I have finished. 

After finishing, teacher gave us corrective feedback 

and explained us each text mean.

We have to answer each question about 

-What’s her advice?  

-What’s the problem?  

-Why did they write the letter to Ann?

After, Professor told us to work in group of three people.

and we shared our opinion to friends.

Paragraph reading strategies

Professor let us did exercises 2 and 3

and answers each question on sheet.

and opened Dictionary Cambridge

After, asked us to write summary of each paragraph and wrote it on the board

We worked in group.

I used the skimming skill.

Skimming Tips

1.Read the table of contents or chapter overview to learn the main divisions of ideas.

2.Glance through the main headings in each chapter just to see a word or two.
   Read the headings of charts and tables.

3.Read the entire introductory paragraph and then the first and last sentence only
   of each following paragraph. For each paragraph, read only the first few words
   of each sentence or to locate the main idea.

4.Stop and quickly read the sentences containing keywords indicated in boldface
   or italics.

5.When you think you have found something significant, stop to read the entire
   sentence to make sure. Then go on the same way. Resist the temptation to stop
   to read details you don't need.

6.Read chapter summaries when provided.

Today, I studied about "Extensive Reading (Continue)"

Professor opened the Cambridge dictionary for teaching 

how to pronounce the words “accurate” and “accuracy.”

     meaning

accurate (adj.) /ˈæk.jə.rət/ = correct, exact, and without any mistakes.

accuracy (n.) /ˈæk.jə.rə.si/ = the fact of being exact or correct

        After that, she gave corrective the

 “Vocabulary focus 1” and “Vocabulary focus 2”

    And Professor told some abbreviations such as “PhD.” “B.Ed.”  and “M.B.A” etc.

PhD. = Doctor of Philosophy

B.Ed. = Bachelor of Education

M.B.A. = Master of Business Administration

I used skimming, scanning, and guessing the meaning for read in this lesson.

Extensive Reading

Professor asked us to discuss with my partner about 

“What is the extensive reading?” 

and

 “Do you often read in English for your private study?”

Professor let us thing the words relate to “Research” and wrote on the board.

Hard Words.

Develop :  /dɪˈvel.əp/ meaning : to (cause something to) grow or change into a more advanced, larger, or stronger form

Development :  /dɪˈvel.əp.mənt/ meaning : the process in which someone or something grows or changes and becomes more advanced

Developing :  /dɪˈvel.ə.pɪŋ/ meaning : A developing country or area of the world is poorer and has less advanced industries, especially in Africa, Latin America, or Asia

Extensive :  /ɪkˈsten.sɪv/ meaning : covering a large area; having a great range.

Scanning

Today, I felt very hot because power off in the building

 I learned about Scanning.

"What is Scanning?"

Professor gave me a meaning of scanning and how do you scanning?

      

    When scanning you:

1. Need to have a question in mind-what the specific information you need;

2. Decide on a key word or expressions that will signal the needed information;

3. Do not read every word, i.e. you can skip over unimportant words or read only the words 

    that answer your questions; and

4. Need to read fast.

English Reading Strategies

What did you learn in this class?

- introduce the course 

- Today  I leaned about A healthy diet. It’s about healthy food and unhealthy food, After that , I leaned about No more junk food. Instructor gave to read about it and answer questions about it. I did find easy about its divide healthy food and unhealthy food.

                         

                                

What this you find easy?

I like to learned in unit 1. This unit is very easy for me. It easy to understand and I can do the exercise. I like this unit because I can show how to make something.

                                       

what did you find difficult?

I think unit 9 and unit 10 is very difficult for me because I can't understand the text and they use many words. I can't find a discourse marker and I don't know meaning of the word. I can't do the exercise. I have many problem with unit 9 and unit 10.

                                               

What did you solve the problem?

My problem is not good English skill, vocabulary and can't translate the text. I always improve myself. I have to read book and practice. When I have fee time, I will make it.

   

    Sometimes I feel bad in this subject because It very difficult for me. I can't do the exercise and test. My point in midterm test very bad. So sad:(  I try to improve myself and read a lot of book.

    

    Sometimes this class made me enjoyable. I like to study because My teacher is very kind and relax. She is the best . This class is in my memory.
